Beating Victim In Critical Condition

A Spokane Valley woman remained in critical condition Sunday, a day after her husband allegedly beat her severely on a boat on Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Jerrene Loss is hospitalized at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene.

Her husband, James Gordon Loss, 46, is in the Kootenai County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, a felony. Bond will be set at his first court appearance this afternoon.

A 911 dispatcher heard a woman’s call for help on a marine radio frequency at 11:10 p.m Friday. An hour later, Kootenai County marine deputies found the couple’s cabin cruiser floating on Mica Bay without navigation lights. James Loss was sitting on deck; his wife was lying in the main cabin with severe head and arm injuries.

The couple has been married more than a decade.
