Gordon First At Pocono

Jeff Gordon dominated the UAW-GM Teamwork 500 at Pocono International Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., for his fifth victory of the season.

He led seven times while leading for 94 of 200 laps in his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, and collected $96,980.

Jacques Villeneuve won the support of a record crowd at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. He didn’t win the race, though.

The hometown favorite finished second behind Williams-Renault teammate Damon Hill.

Dale Shaw took the lead with 38 laps remaining and held it the rest of the way to win the Pennzoil/VIP Discount Auto Parts 150 at Scarborough, Maine.

Miguel Duhamel rode a Honda to his fourth AMA Superbike victory of the season, drawing within 15 points of series leader Doug Chandler at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon.
