The Atlanta Hawks have hired Bill Hanzlik as an assistant coach. Hanzlik spent the last five seasons as an assistant with the Charlotte Hornets. He also spent 11 seasons in the NBA as a player with the Seattle SuperSonics and Denver Nuggets. … Misdemeanor drunken-driving charges were filed against Lawrence Phillips, the former Nebraska running back who was a first-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams.
