Ambush Kills Serb Policeman

Compiled From Wire Services

Gunmen killed one policeman and seriously injured another in Serbia’s Kosovo province, where authorities use a heavy police presence to supress ethnic Albanians.

The attack Monday in Kosovska Mitrovica, 25 miles northwest of the provincial capital Pristina, came one day after another Serb policeman was wounded in the leg in a similar ambush.

No one has been arrested in the attack on Predrag Djordjevic, who died at the scene, and Zoran Vukojevic, who was hospitalized in critical condition, the official Tanjug news agency reported. The attackers were well organized and used automatic weapons, police said.
