Libya To Resume Deportations

Compiled From Wire Services

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has told the PLO that he will resume expelling Palestinians from Libya next month, a Palestinian official said Tuesday.

Gadhafi expelled 2,000 Palestinians last year to focus attention on the shortcomings of the Israeli-Palestinian peace accords.

Mohammed Subeih, the PLO representative to the Arab League, said Gadhafi sent his warning Monday to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat through the Palestine Liberation Organization office in Tripoli.

Gadhafi said deportations will resume July 1, Subeih said.

Many refugees forced out last year had nowhere to go since most were from families who fled their homes when Israel was founded in 1948 and whose future has not been addressed in peace accords.
