Burlington Coat To Settle Allegations
Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. will pay $250,000 to settle allegations that it sold dangerous flammable rayon skirts and scarves in violation of the federal Flammable Fabrics Act.
In agreeing to pay the settlement, Burlington denied it violated the Act.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission alleges that Burlington sold approximately 84,000 rayon sheer chiffon skirts and 30,000 scarves that were highly flammable.
The skirts, made in India, were sold at Burlington Coat Factory stores from January 1994 to July 1994. The scarves were sold from August 1994 to July 1995.
