High Court Reinstates Molesting Conviction

From Staff And Wire Reports

The state Supreme Court on Thursday reinstated the conviction and 7 1/2-year prison sentence of an Omak man who was convicted of raping his young son.

The state Court of Appeals last year dismissed the conviction, saying the state didn’t have jurisdiction in the case because prosecutors failed to prove the crime occurred on privately controlled fee lands on the Colville Indian Reservation.
