Obituaries

Della Posnick Mullan, Idaho

Memorial vigil and Mass for Della Mary Posnick, 66, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Wallace is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Posnick, a lifelong Kellogg resident, died Wednesday.

She was born and raised in Kellogg and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1947, later attending the University of Idaho.

Mrs. Posnick had worked as a bank secretary for Idaho First National Bank in Kellogg.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mullan and St. Michael’s Guild. She was also a member and past president of the Shoshone Ladies Golf Club.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, John; two sons, John Posnick of Osburn, Idaho, and Steve Posnick of Mullan; one sister, Norma McPike of California; and two grandchildren, Angela Posnick and Chase Bennett.

Roy Allen Newport, Wash.

Memorial service for Roy V. Allen, 80, is set for 2 p.m. Monday at the United Church of Christ in Newport. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allen, who died Tuesday at home, was born in Walworth, Neb.

He moved to Caldwell, Idaho, in 1934 and in 1937 married Mabel Horrace in Nampa, Idaho.

He worked for Symms Fruit Ranch until 1946, when he began farming. He moved his family to Usk, Wash., in 1954 and bought 160 acres of timber land. They later moved to Newport, where he served as Pend Oreille County deputy assessor.

Mr. Allen was a member of Davis Lake Grange, the United Church of Christ and Newport Hospitality House Inc.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Ronald Allen of Port Orchard, Wash.; one daughter, Dee Webb of Spokane; one sister, Opal Gebhart of Caldwell; three brothers, Perry and Leo Allen, both of Caldwell, and Orval Allen of Madras, Ore.; five grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newport Hospitality House.

Eva Holbert Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Eva M. Holbert, 86, will be today at 2:30 p.m. at the Post Falls Cemetery. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Holbert, who was born in Alberta, Canada, died Sunday.

She grew up and attended school in Alberta, moving to Kellogg and Kingston, Idaho in the 1920s. She later divorced and in 1951 moved to Bellingham, where she owned a farm and provided housing for Western Washington University education students.

She later moved to Spokane and Post Falls before moving to the Heritage Place Retirement Center in Coeur d’Alene, where she had lived for the past several years.

After a time following her divorce, Mrs. Holbert married Carroll Holbert, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Survivors include three children, Fred DeLaurier Jr. of California, and Shirley Schorzman and Elwyn DeLaurier, both of Boise.

Eleanor LaRosa Twin Lakes, Idaho

At her request, no service will be held for Eleanor A. LaRosa, 80. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. LaRosa, who was born in Rhode Island, died Wednesday.

She was raised and educated in Rhode Island and later served in the Navy. After her military discharge, she married R. George LaRosa, and they later divorced.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1977 before moving to Twin Lakes in 1990.

Mrs. LaRosa was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilmer Lyons, who died in World War II.

Survivors include a son, Robert LaRosa of Rathdrum; and two granddaughters, Jana LaRosa of Boise and Bree LaRosa of Rathdrum, Idaho.

Dustin Hamlin Deer Park

Graveside service for Dustin “Dusty” Lee Hamlin Fausett, 13, will be at 1:30 p.m. today, at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Dustin died Sunday from cardiac and respiratory complications related to a near-drowning accident in 1985 in Rathdrum, Idaho.

He was born in Coeur d’Alene.

He attended grade schools in Deer Park and Cheney.

He is survived by his parents, Judy Upchurch and Karl Fausett of Deer Park; one bother, Jeremy Frey of Seattle; two sisters, Jacqueline Dutcher of Spokane and Jeannette Frey of Seattle; his grandparents, Jack and Jan Hamlin of Otis Orchards, and Arlan and Frances Froemming of Spokane.
