Tab For Dinner With The First Lady: $5,000 A Couple

Associated Press

Dining with first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at a Democratic fund-raiser Monday night in Seattle will cost $5,000 per couple.

Clinton will appear at a downtown luncheon to honor and benefit the locally based Mothers Against Violence in America, which helps establish anti-violence programs in public schools.

Later in the day, she will have dinner with about 80 people at the home of Totem Resources’ chief executive officer Stan Barer and his wife, Alta.

“We’re hoping the fund-raiser will raise roughly $300,000,” said Amy Weiss Tobe of the Democratic National Committee.

With President Clinton seeking re-election, the Democratic National Committee is financing TV spots airing across the state.

The state party is listed as sponsor of the commercials.

Clinton will be here for about nine hours Monday, arriving from Tennessee and departing for Washington, D.C.

At the sold-out luncheon, Youth Peacemaker Awards will be given to three students, and “Legacy of Caring” scholarships will be presented to three graduating high school seniors.
