Take Yourself Out To The Ballgame

It’s time to brush up on the lyrics to “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” because the local professional baseball team - the Spokane Indians - opens home play tonight at Seafirst Stadium.

For the record:

The Indians play Class A baseball in the Northwest League against teams from Bellingham, Everett, Yakima, Boise, Eugene, Portland and Southern Oregon.

The first pitch is thrown at 7:05 p.m., except Sundays when the games start at 6:05 p.m. Games begin at 3:05 p.m., however, this Sunday and July 7 and 31.

All seats are reserved this year, including the benches in what was the general admission areas in left and right fields. Numbers have been painted on the benches, hence reserved bench seating, which will still be $3.50, $2.50 for kids and seniors and military personnel. Reserved box seats are $5.50 for everyone.

Tickets to all the games are available this year at G&B outlets, by calling G&B at 325-SEAT, and at the Indians box office at Seafirst Stadium or by calling 535-2922. There are no service charges on tickets purchased through the Indians’ office.

The Indians have a Birthday Club this year, which means young fans can have a birthday party at the baseball game. They get dessert and souvenirs for their guests, a present from the baseball club, a visit from Otto the mascot, and a serenade from thousands of fans at the game. To arrange a party, call 535-2922.

And, because the promotions are as much a part of the game as the home runs, here’s a schedule of promotions this season:
