Huber Defeats Sukova

Anke Huber of Germany captured the first grass-court title of her career by beating Helene Sukova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) in the final of the Wilkinson Lady Championships at Rosmalen, Netherlands.

Second-seeded Huber won the first set after breaking Sukova’s service three times, but then fell behind as she lost her own service in the openin game of the second.

Andres Gomez defeated defending champion Jimmy Connors, 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the finals of The Challenge at the Beach & Tennis Club at Pebble Beach, Calif. He will face John McEnroe.
