Bicycle Rear-Ended By Pickup Truck

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Bonners Ferry woman escaped serious injury Sunday after her bicycle was rear-ended by a pickup truck.

Lois Lynn Engert, 40, was riding her mountain bike north on the shoulder of U.S. 95 in Bonners Ferry when she was hit. The Idaho State Police said Tonya S. Williams, 22, was driving her GMC pickup northbound when she fell asleep and drove onto the right shoulder, striking Engert’s bike.

An ambulance took Engert to Boundary Community Hospital. Because of possible head injuries, she was later transported to Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint. She was later treated and released.

Williams was cited for inattentive driving.
