Search Suspended For Man In Lake

From Staff And Wire Reports

Officials late Saturday suspended the search for a Bonners Ferry man who reportedly jumped into Lake Coeur d’Alene off a cruise boat. The search is expected to resume Tuesday, when officials will use sonar to try to find the man’s body in a deep area of the lake.

Chad Sebastian Burgad, 23, jumped from the upper deck of the cruise boat Mish An Nock just before 10 p.m. Friday, witnesses told the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.

At the time, the boat was carrying 300 people as part of a radio station cruise.

The crew stopped the boat and searched for Burgad, the sheriff’s department said. Five rescue boats also searched for him.

Burgad’s vehicle was still parked near the lake and his family had not heard from him, the sheriff’s department said.

He reportedly jumped into deep water about a quarter-mile south of Tubb’s Hill along the lake.
