Church Backs Same-Sex Marriage

The Unitarian Universalist Church, which has long supported gay rights, adopted a resolution Tuesday urging legal recognition of same-sex marriages.

“We recognize and affirm that love is love, and family is family, that every couple needs encouragement from the community to make their marriage last,” said the Rev. John Buehrens.

Buehrens is president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, which voted on the resolution at its annual meeting.
