Miami Suspends Perry
Ricky Perry, a Miami Hurricanes tackle arrested on felony gun charges in November and accused of beating up his date last week, was suspended indefinitely by coach Butch Davis.
The disciplinary action follows the suspensions Friday of three other Miami players involved in the assault of a track athlete.
The November arrest of Perry surfaced publicly only after he was charged Friday with hitting his 17-year-old date in the face. Hurricanes officials learned just recently that Perry will go to trial on the gun charges, sports information director Bob Burda said.
