Teenager Pleads Guilty In Crime Spree

From Staff And Wire Reports

One of three teenage boys accused of terrorizing the Inchelium area during an April 28 crime spree pleaded guilty Tuesday.

The 13-year-old boy was sentenced to between five and 6 1/2 years in a state juvenile institution.

The boy pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault, and one count each of eluding police, firearm theft and vehicle theft.

He admitted shooting at Inchelium resident Joyce Kohler and her granddaughter after stealing Kohler’s pickup truck, firing on pursuing Colville tribal police officers and threatening school bus driver Rose Rankin.

A 16-year-old accomplice is awaiting sentencing July 23 after pleading guilty earlier to similar charges. Another 13-year-old boy is scheduled to stand trial Tuesday.

All three youths are from Inchelium.
