Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Quick fixes when you lose a button:

If it’s on a cuff, roll up the sleeves of the garment.

A good old safety pin will do the trick just about anywhere on any kind of garment.

On the front of a blouse, use a pierced earring to ward off the gap until you can find a sewing kit.

In extreme cases, you can use a rolled piece of tape to keep the area of the missing button closed.

Last but not least, if all else fails or you have none of the above handy, put on a jacket or sweater or rearrange a scarf or necktie.
