Late entry Jose Luis Molina of Costa Rica won the men’s division and Lyubov Klochko of Ukraine won the women’s division of the Los Angeles Marathon.

Molina won in two hours, 13 minutes and 23 seconds. Alfredo Vigueras of Mexico finished second, just three seconds behind the winner.

Klochko won her second women’s LA title in 2:30:30.

Cigar, the 1995 horse of the year, went back to the track for the first time since he injured his foot two weeks ago.

Cigar galloped once around Gulfstream racing strip in Hallandale, Fla., a day after missing the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap in California.

Cuba, the defending Olympic women’s volleyball champion, beat the United States 15-10, 15-7, 16-14 in Dallas, and took a 3-1 lead in their five-game series.

Cuba posted its second sweep on the tour, which ends Tuesday night at Houston.

Argentina and Brazil, both seeking their first Olympic soccer gold medal, qualified for Atlanta Games in Mar Del Plata, Argentina.

Argentina beat Venezuela 2-0 with goals by Hernan Crespo and Claudio Lopez, while Brazil beat Uruguay 3-1 on two goals by Juninho.
