Vandals’ Game Time Changed

Because of a scheduling change, the University of Idaho’s first-round game against Montana in the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball tournament will be at 5:07 PST on Thursday in Bozeman, Mont.

Idaho (11-15), the sixth seed, defeated Montana (20-7) 84-75 Saturday night, but lost leading scorer Reggie Rose (13.9 points per game) to a fractured and dislocated elbow.

Thursday’s other opener pits No. 4 Boise State (14-12) and No. 5 Idaho State (11-14) at 7:37.

The championship game is Saturday night at 7:07. ESPN will televise the game delayed at 9:30.

Track and field

Idaho coach Mike Keller announced Monday that countrymen Tawanda Chiwira and Felix Kamangirira will represent the Vandals at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis.

Chiwira, a freshman from Masvingo, Zimbabwe, and Kamangirira, a sophomore native of Waterfalls, Harare, Zimbabwe, were selected by the NCAA on the bases of their performances in the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships last weekend.

Chiwira will compete in the 200 meters and Kamangirira in the 400.

Chiwira, after falling down during the 400 finals last Saturday, walked away with the 200 title in a Big Sky-record time of 21.15 seconds. It also broke the Idaho school record that had stood since 1990.

Kamangirira won the 400 final last Saturday in 46.72, a time Chiwira has run last Friday in setting Big Sky and Idaho records in the prelims.
