Post Falls Council Sets Burial Plot Rate

From Staff And Wire Reports

The cost of a burial plot in Post Falls just went up for town residents, and has decreased slightly for out-of-towners.

The Post Falls City Council Tuesday eliminated its two-tiered rate structure for burial sites and established a new rate of $475 per plot. Residents used to pay $100 less than that, and non-residents paid $575.

In other business, the council approved a local improvement district to pay for a traffic light and street improvements for the Pleasantview and Fifth Street intersection.

The city has been negotiating with property owners in the area over the proposed improvements for months. The city will pick up half the cost of the traffic signal, and the property owners will pay for the rest of the improvements.

Construction is expected to begin in the spring.

A major portion of the improvements will be paid for by Watson and Associates, the developer of Expo, a large commercial subdivision. The council postponed final approval of Expo’s subdivision plans.
