Fire Destroys Home Of Businessman
An early morning fire Friday destroyed the lakefront home of Sandpoint businessman Dennis Pence.
Pence owns Coldwater Creek, an international mail-order catalog company based here.
Authorities said the electrical fire was reported about 4:45 a.m. at Pence’s Bottle Bay Road home just south of Sandpoint. No one was at the house on Lake Pend Oreille, which Pence uses as a secondary residence.
The blaze was discovered by a neighbor who awoke to the sound of glass blowing out of the windows, said Sagle Assistant Fire Chief Mark Dennison.
It took firefighters from Sagle and Sandpoint two hours to put out the blaze. The 1,800-square-foot home, with an estimated value of $150,000 to $175,000, was a total loss. The home was insured.
