NEW FACES:

Carrie White has joined The Clark Co. of Spokane as a senior associate. White, who was previously employed by Z Media, will serve as an account manager and production coordinator.

Bob Lee was named a personal finance advisor with the Spokane office of American Express Financial Advisors Inc. Lee, a former manager of the Post Falls greyhound racetrack, also has previous management experience within the gaming industry.

Action Mortgage has hired Nathan Elmore as an associate loan officer at its North Spokane office. Elmore was previously director of a capital management company and was marketing manager for a corporate telecommunications sales and service company.

Michael Icardo has purchased 50 percent of Hayden-based North Idaho Realty Inc. and was elected vice president. Icardo has more than 20 years of real estate and mortgage banking experience.

Margie Massar has joined the Eastern Washington Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as coordinator for outreach to late-deafened adults. She has begun a free weekly support group for late-deafened adults that meets at the Deaf Service Center, 1206 N. Howard, each Tuesday from 1-3 p.m.

The accounting firm of A. Avery & Co. has added the following people to its staff:

Ed Rice as a staff accountant.

Carolee Rasmussen as an office assistant.

Sacred Heart Medical Center Development Fund has six new community liaisons. They are: Lori Farnell, vice president of Goodale & Barbieri; Patti Kilcup, Tidyman’s Inc.; Dr. Michael Kirsch, Spokane Diagnostic Radiology; Marv Nelson, CEO of Columbia Paint and Coatings; Dave Risdon, Coopers & Lybrand; Dr. Phil Werschler, Spokane Dermatology Clinic; Massoud Emami, Anderson & Emami Men’s Clothiers, will serve as chairman; Christopher Mietus, will serve as vice chairman, and Lourie Morse, of Group Health Northwest, will serve as chair of special events.

MOVING UP:

Washington Trust Bank has promoted Leslie Flinn, manager of the bank’s Sullivan branch, to assistant vice president. Flinn, who has 19 years of experience in the banking industry, will continue her responsibilities at the Sullivan branch.

Johnson Matthey Electronics has named Michael Miller general manager of The Alta Group. Miller will relocate from Spokane to Alta’s headquarters in Fombell, Pa. The Alta group, a manufacturer of high-purity titanium, is a subsidiary of JME.

Johnson Matthey promoted Brent Bollong to business unit manager for discrete products, the position left vacant by Michael Miller. Bollong was previously manufacturing manager for discrete products.

Allied Security announced the following promotions:

Jay Hunt, previously assistant manager of Allied Security’s Spokane branch, has been promoted to general manager. Hunt has been in the security industry for 10 years.

Robert Hunt has been named sales and marketing manager for Allied Security. Hunt has been in the security industry for eight years.

Sterling Savings Association has promoted the following employees:

Kellie Yates has been appointed loan officer for Sterling’s Private Banking Department. Yates joined Sterling in 1989 as consumer loan manager and was promoted to assistant vice president in 1990.

Gary Jurgensen has been promoted to vice president. Jurgensen previously was a commercial loan officer in Sterling’s Business Lending Department. He joined Sterling in 1993 and was previously with CoBank.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Nila Hagood of Kiemle & Hagood Co., has been awarded the designation of Association Management Specialist (AMS), by the Community Associations Institute. Kiemle & Hagood is expanding its association management department, which Hagood will manage.

Dr. Ted Yoshio Toribara has been recertified a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice. Toribara, a family physician, earned diplomate status by passing the board’s certification examination.

Charles Bardram of ABC Office Equipment Co. has been certified as an Enterprise Certified Network Engineer by Novell Inc. The designation acknowledges advanced expertise with larger and more complex networks and is one of Novell’s most advanced professional certifications.

Wednesday - The Northwest Inland Empire Chapter of the American Production and Inventory Control Society presents a seminar on “Selecting Effective Performance Measurements” from 1-5 p.m. at the Red Lion in the Spokane Valley. The seminar will be followed by a dinner meeting on “Cycle Counting” at 5:15. Guest speaker for both events is Carol Ptak, who has extensive experience in manufacturing and material control in various industries.
