Trainer Bill Mott virtually committed to a trip to Dubai next week for Cigar after watching the 1995 horse of the year gallop 1-1/2 miles at Gulfstream in Hallandale, Fla. Cigar bruised his right front foot shortly after an overwhelming victory in the Donn Handicap at Gulfstream on Feb. 10. He missed the Santa Anita Handicap March 2.

At Haikou, China, Lisa Leslie scored 20 points, and the United States rallied in the second half to beat China 80-68 in the International Women’s Basketball Challenge.
