Kirk Picked To Region 18 Team

MONDAY, MARCH 11, 1996

North Idaho College freshman Tanya Kirk has been selected to the All-Region 18 women’s basketball team.

Kirk was joined on the first team by Utah Valley’s Tricia Ferrin, Ricks’ Barbie Carmichael, Eastern Utah’s Lindsay Allen, Southern Idaho’s Amanda Covington and Dixie’s Marnie Dimond. Ferrin was named the most valuable player. Utah Valley’s Cathy Nixon was named coach of the year.

Utah Valley’s Ferrin also was named MVP of the Region 18 tournament, which the Wolverines won on Saturday night. Other all-tournament selections were Utah Valley’s Mary Hunter, Ricks’ Barbie Carmichael, Southern Idaho’s Amanda Covington and DeAnna Glover and Dixie’s Sunny Myers.

Former NIC player Derrick Elliott was selected MVP of the Region 18 men’s tournament. Elliott, who helped Utah Valley to the title, was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Brad Willden, Dixie’s Kevin Simpson and Keon Clark, College of Southern Idaho’s Marcus Wallace and Snow’s Andrew Mavis.
