The Detroit Lions signed left tackle Ray Roberts, an unrestricted free agent, who played for Seattle last season.

Roberts will fill the void left when Lomas Brown signed with Arizona. Last week it was reported Roberts had agreed to a two-year, $3.3-million contract.

The Lions also released linebacker Tracy Hayworth and guard David Lutz.

Roberts, 6-foot-6 and 308 pounds, was the Seahawks’ No. 1 pick in 1992 and the 10th selection overall. He appeared in 11 games last season after starting 46 of Seattle’s 48 games in his first three seasons.

Hayworth started 30 games and played in 72 during his six seasons with the Lions. The 6-3, 260-pound linebacker appeared in every game last season, starting 13, and had 31 tackles and a sack.

Lutz, 36, started all 48 regular-season games during his three years with Detroit. He played tackle his first two seasons and guard last season. The 6-6, 305-pound lineman signed with the Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 1993 following 11 seasons with Kansas City.
