The B.C. Lions have been sold to local ownership fronted by Vancouver businessmen Nelson Skalbania and Mike Jensen. Bill Comrie of Edmonton, who purchased the Lions in September 1992, told a news conference that the new owners have the financial stability and professional sports experience to operate the CFL team.

College of Southern Idaho is opening a nationwide search to find its ninth head basketball coach.

The position opened Monday when three-year veteran Steve Irons resigned the basketball job. He will remain in the College of Southern Idaho mathematics department.

Robert Jackson, wide receivers coach at Oregon State for the past five years, has been promoted to assistant head coach by coach Jerry Pettibone.
