49ers Pick Up Doleman

The San Francisco 49ers made their first major strike on the NFL free-agent market with the addition of 34-year-old defensive end Chris Doleman.

Doleman, who played the past two seasons with Atlanta, agreed to a five-year, $12.5 million deal that includes a $3.4 million signing bonus and salaries of $500,000 this year, $1.6 million in 1997, $2 million in 1998, $2.5 million in 1999 and $2.5 million in 2000.

The New York Jets added unrestricted free-agent receiver Jeff Graham, who gained 1,301 yards in receptions last season with Chicago.
