Ccs Opens Season With Victory Over Nic

Freshman Tim Hackman pitched five shutout innings in his junior college baseball debut and Tyson Best drove in three runs as Community Colleges of Spokane defeated North Idaho 7-5 in Thursday’s non-league game at Coeur d’Alene.

Hackman allowed two hits and struck out five through five innings in the Sasquatch season opener. Best had two hits, including a game-winning, two-run single in the top of the ninth inning.

Luke Anderson and Ryan Gunther drove in two runs each for the Cardinals (1-4).

Golf

The Fairways and Downriver golf courses are open.

Downriver opens at 10 a.m. on temporary greens. The driving range is also open. Tee times today are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. For weekend tee times call the clubhouse at 327-5269.

The Fairways is open daily at 8 a.m. on 18 permanent greens, as well as the driving range. Current greens fees are $11. For tee times call the clubhouse at 747-8418.
