Recent UI Grad Challenges Boatright
A 25-year-old financial consultant is challenging state Sen. Clyde Boatright in the primary election.
Ian James has wanted to enter politics since he graduated from University of Idaho with a major in political science, he said. He did run for office while in school, winning a seat on UI’s student senate.
Boatright, a Republican, has been the District 2 state senator since he defeated Barbara Chamberlain in 1994, the year James graduated from college.
James, also a Republican, said he’s been following Boatright’s record for the past year as he’s been laying plans to challenge him for the seat.
“I believe I can provide the electorate and constituents of District 2 great representation,” he said Thursday.
James works for Metropolitan Life in Spokane and lives in Post Falls with his wife. He grew up in Kellogg.
