Zak Design Launches Product Line For Tots

From Staff And Wire Reports

Targeting a somewhat smaller market, Zak Designs Inc. of Spokane is launching a line of dishes, utensils and other accessories for infants and toddlers.

The product line complements the company’s adult and children’s dinnerware, which are designed with licensed characters from Disney and other companies.

Zak-designed dinnerware is manufactured overseas and imported back to Zak’s warehouse near Airway Heights. The company distributes products to department stores and mass merchandisers nationwide.

Regina Thomas, Zak vice president of marketing, said the company next month will begin shipping tiny plates, drip-proof tumblers and extra-long spoons for its diapered customers. Suggested retail price for a four-piece set is $14.99. Bibs and drip mats also will be offered.

Characters licensed for the infant-toddler products include Looney Tunes Lovables, Best Friends, The Beginner’s Bible: Noah’s Ark, and Bunnykins.

Zak, which employs 140 people, has yet to decide if it will hire additional workers to handle the new line, Thomas said.
