Chang Cruises To Easy Win

Compiled From Wire Services

Michael Chang, the “human wall” of men’s tennis, went on the attack for a change, rolling to a 7-5, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Paul Haarhuis in the Newsweek Champions Cup final.

Chang forced his opponent to scurry side to side, up and back, more than he had to, hitting a deadly mix of crosscourt winners and blasts down the lines with an occasional drop shot for good measure.

Chang won 38 of 40 points on his first serve and ripped off 35 winners against Haarhuis, who had made it to the final round with a string of upsets.
