American Sumo Wrestlers Fall

Compiled From Wire Services

The two best American sumo wrestlers in the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament were beaten.

Musashimaru, a champion from Hawaii whose real name is Fiamalu Penitani, was sent to his fourth defeat against seven victories. He attacked senior wrestler Kotonowaka with hand thrusts, but Kotonowaka quickly grabbed his belt and threw him down.

Konishiki, or Salevaa Fuauli Atisanoe from Hawaii, suffered his sixth defeat against five victories as he was bulldozed out by Hamanoshima (6-5).

Grand champion Takanohana scored his 10th victory against one defeat and held his lead with four days left in the 15-day tournament.
