Golf and ski for prizes at Lookout Pass Saturday. Contestants whack tennis balls with golf clubs as they ski through nine-hole course. $20 entry includes lift ticket. Info: (208) 777-7701.

Nordic skiing

Grooming is finished for the season at Mt. Spokane. But backcountry skiers can find good corn and have the feast all to themselves.

Backcountry conditions are ideal and reasonably safe on south-facing slopes. But north slopes haven’t had the same freeze-thaw cycles and may have pockets of instability where a thick layer of consolidated snow is poised on a layer of sugar. Watch out.

Snowmobiling

Grooming has ended in the Spokane Region. Sledders would have to go through mud to reach North or South Baldy.
