Donation To Fund Peace Institute

A donation of property in the Sun Valley area will be used to fund a trust for the Martin Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution at the University of Idaho.

John Chapman of Boise, a 1958 graduate of the UI’s College of Letters and Science, donated the property valued at $750,000.

“John Chapman is an excellent example of the many alumni who provide their time, talents and financial resources for their alma mater,” UI Interim President Tom Bell said Thursday.

“The Martin Institute for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution has made great progress under the volunteer leadership of Mr. Chapman. We benefit greatly from his support.”

Income from the trust will be used to fund the John Chapman Chair for International Peace at the Martin Institute.

Chapman, a member of the UI Foundation Inc., has donated more than $1.2 million to the Moscow school.
