Gangsta Rapper Charged With Assault

Gangsta rapper Notorious B.I.G. was charged with assault Saturday after allegedly using a baseball bat to attack a pair of autograph seekers.

The rapper, whose real name is Christopher Wallace, and a friend hopped in their car to chase the two victims, who tried to flee in a taxi after Wallace refused to sign his autograph and they argued outside a nightclub, Detective Mark Patterson said.

Wallace and Damian Butler, both 23, caught up to the taxi and allegedly smashed the cab’s windshield, hood and doors before they used the bats on the two men, Patterson said.

The victims, who weren’t identified, were treated by city emergency medical workers at a police precinct house and released.
