Council Hires Firm To Rate Manager

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane City Council hired a consulting firm to help evaluate City Manager Roger Crum.

Council members on Monday unanimously approved a contract with Haupt Management Consultants to assess Crum’s job performance. The cost of the contract can’t exceed $5,000.

The council will use the information when deciding whether to keep Crum in his $93,000-a-year job.

Also Monday, the council delayed for two weeks adopting an ethics policy that includes a controversial definition of “confidential information.”

Councilman Chris Anderson and Pat Stiley, a civil liberties attorney, say the definition is so broad it will put a clamp on the information that reaches the public.
