Flood-Relief Funding Topic Of Briefings

From Staff And Wire Reports

Disaster officials will hold briefings in Coeur d’Alene, St. Maries, Moscow, Lewiston and Orofino this week to discuss flood-relief funding available to public agencies.

The meetings cover money available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s hazard mitigation grant program.

The program is available to tribes, state or local governments and some non-profit organizations, such as schools, hospitals and public utilities in the Idaho counties declared disaster areas during the recent flooding.

The money pays for projects to reduce future damage, but require a 25 percent match from the local agency.

FEMA officials said these meetings are intended for agency officials, not individual homeowners.

The meetings will be held at: St. Maries: today at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall.

Moscow: today at 3 p.m. at the Latah County Courthouse.

Lewiston: Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Brammer Building, 1225 Idaho Street.

Orofino: Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the back room of the Ponderosa Restaurant.

Coeur d’Alene: Friday at 9 a.m. at the Kootenai County Emergency Operations Center, 5500 N. Government Way. , DataTimes
