Marjorie (Olds) Guthrie Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for Marjorie C. (Olds) Guthrie, 96, will be today at 10 a.m. at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Paradise Valley Cemetery.

Mrs. Guthrie, who was born in Porthill, Idaho, died Monday.

She grew up in North Idaho, attending schools in Porthill, Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry. She went on to graduate from Kinman Business College in Spokane.

She had worked at the Boundary County Courthouse and was a legal secretary for Watt Prather before retiring. She had also been a checker at a grocery store.

Mrs. Guthrie enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, canning, cooking, cards and ice cream. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Chauncey, in 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin and Lawrence, both of Bonners Ferry, and Richard of Spokane; one daughter, Mildred MacDonald of Bonners Ferry; a cousin, Nellie Rucky of Spokane; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia Lothspeich Colfax, Wash.

Rosary for Virginia (Harding) Jones Lothspeich, 78, is planned for 7:45 p.m. today at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial Mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at the Colfax Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lothspeich, who was born in Colfax, died Wednesday. She graduated from Garfield (Wash.) High School.

In 1939 she married Edward Jones. He died in 1940.

She married Lawrence Lothspeich in 1941.

She was a charter member of Catholic Daughters of America of St. Patrick Parish in Colfax. She was also a member of Atheneum and volunteered with the American Red Cross.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; one son, Bob Lothspeich of Colfax; one daughter, Lynne “Susie” McDonough of Redmond, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or the Whitman Hospital Foundation.

Dolores Craig Spokane

Funeral Mass for Dolores Craig, 86, is set for 9 a.m. today at St. Paschal Catholic Church. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Craig, who died Tuesday, was born in Seven Mile, Wash.

She worked as a telegrapher for Northern Pacific Railroad for many years.

She was a member of St. Paschal Catholic Church.

Her husband, Harold Craig, died in 1971.

Mrs. Craig is survived by two daughters, SueAnn Tully of Seattle and Dolores Obermeyer of Pomeroy, Wash.; one son, Harold Craig of Spokane; one brother, Loveland Cota of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Zelda Tomsha Chewelah, Wash.

Service for Zelda M. Tomsha, 79, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chewelah. Burial will follow at the Chewelah City Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home of Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tomsha, who was born in Leahy, Wash., died Tuesday.

She graduated from Jenkins High School in Chewelah.

In 1939 she married Stanley Tomsha. They purchased a 160-acre farm in Burnt Valley in 1940, and in 1947 they bought a 160-acre dairy farm in Cottonwood, which they operated until they retired in 1962.

Shortly after they retired, they moved to Seattle. They returned to Chewelah in 1967, and Mrs. Tomsha worked in the kitchen at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 16 years.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Rosary Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Ed Tomsha and Duane Tomsha, both of Chewelah; one daughter, Evelyn Yearty of Holt, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Elizabeth Cornish Spokane

Memorial service for Elizabeth J. “Bettie” Cornish, 71, is set for 4 p.m. today at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at the church. Thornhill Valley Funeral is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cornish, a 15-year Spokane resident, died Tuesday.

She was born on the family homestead near Great Falls, Mont.

She was a homemaker and a homecare provider in the Spokane area.

She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Mrs. Cornish is survived by three daughters, Sheila Cornish Bell of Spokane, Nanette Ford of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Lisa Cornish; one son, Rick Cornish of Tempe, Ariz.; four sisters, Colleen Love of Fontana, Calif., Sue Majerus and Jackie Strosnider, both of Great Falls, and Mary Jo Lacher of Fort Shaw, Mont.; two brothers, Michael Murray of San Jose, Calif., and Tim Murray of Great Falls; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Edward Kannberg Spokane

Graveside service for Edward Kannberg, 81, was Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kannberg, who died Tuesday, was born in Wheelock, N.D.

He had lived in Spokane since 1939 and worked as a glazier for Exchange Lumber Co. for many years. He retired in 1979.

He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Kannberg is survived by one son, Bob Kannberg of Woodinville, Wash.; one daughter, Bonnie Hagen of Mead; two sisters, Mildred Bauer and Lydia Kannberg, both of Spokane; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dolores (Doty) Ricard Lewiston

Service for Dolores A. (Doty) Ricard, 59, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Orchards Baptist Church in Lewiston. Burial will follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ricard, who was born in Clarkston, Wash., died Tuesday.

She moved to Spokane as a child and graduated from North Central High School in 1954.

She later worked as an operator for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co., and was also a secretary for Bovay Engineering and the Old National Bank.

She moved to Lewiston in 1976 and worked as a secretary for Medical Service Bureau of Idaho, the Idaho State Tax Commission and the Idaho Education Association. She retired due to medical disability in 1981.

Mrs. Ricard enjoyed needlepoint, ceramics and genealogy.

She was divorced and later remarried in 1976.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence; two sons, Gary Brumley and Bob Ricard, both of Lewiston; two daughters, Debra Wilson of Spokane and Lorie Renfrew of Lewiston; one sister, Joanne Schlangen, and one brother Rich Cook, both of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Hazel Bishop Spokane

Visitation for Hazel C. Bishop, 94, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pines Mausoleum.

Mrs. Bishop, who was born in Sprague, Wash., died Wednesday.

She worked as a cook for Holy Names Academy, St. Paschal’s Parish, Snow White Bakery and Bethany House.

Her husband, Faye Bishop, died in 1958.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by one sister, Mildred Renner of Spokane; one son, Don Eliasen of Spokane; several stepchildren, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Vivian Munson Colfax, Wash.

Memorial service for Vivian Elizabeth Munson, 79, will be at 11 a.m Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colfax. Private burial service will be at the Colfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Munson, a longtime Colfax resident, died Tuesday. She was born in Highland, Utah.

She met William Munson at a United Service Organization dance and married him in 1944 in Hugo, Olka. They moved to Colfax in 1946.

She was a member of Parvin Grange, Colfax Golf and Country Club and the Colfax Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She played the piano and organ for the church for many years.

She is survived by her husband; one son, William Munson Jr., of Spokane; three daughters, Carole Newman of Queen Creek, Ariz., Marilyn Pence of Cheney and Juliana Gibson of Mission Viejo, Calif.; six brothers James Beck of Layton, Utah, Theron Beck of St. George, Utah, Dallan Beck of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Malcolm Beck of American Fork, Utah, Duane Beck of Bountiful, Utah, and Vaughn Beck of Sulfur, La.; one sister, Maybelle Mills of Pleasant Grove; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Washington.

Mary Lou Johnson Priest River, Idaho

Service for Mary Lou Johnson, 69, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Priest River. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home of Priest River is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson, who died Tuesday, was born in St. Anthony, Idaho.

She graduated from high school in Valleyford.

In 1944 she married Clarence Johnson in Bossier City, La.

They had lived in California for 31 years, and Mrs. Johnson worked as a seamstress and a home nurse.

They moved to Priest River 15 years ago.

She was a member of the Albeni Craft Club.

Mrs. Johnson’s survivors include her husband, Clarence; three sons, Edward Johnson of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Jack and Daniel Johnson, both of Priest River; one brother, Jack Horder of Spokane; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
