Lakeland To Discuss Crowded Schools
In the wake of an unsuccessful bond vote, Lakeland School District will hold a public meeting to discuss ways to relieve overcrowding in the schools.
The meeting of the district’s facility improvement committee will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lakeland High School.
The committee, which includes teachers, patrons, administrators and a school board member, was reactivated after the March 19 election. The bond issue would have funded a second junior high school and would have expanded Garwood Elementary.
The committee will review short- and long-range facility needs and report its recommendations to the board of trustees in June.
