Hot Dog Hawkers To Hit Tacoma Streets

Associated Press

Hot dogs, French style, are coming to Tacoma’s streets.

The city recently approved an ordinance that grants street vendors the right to sell products from Tacoma’s sidewalks. Prior to this, street vendors had been banned for 15 years.

The city Tuesday granted Jerry Vaughan licenses that will enable him to sell his Frogs French Style Hot Dogs at two sites within the city limits, beginning today.

One cart will be situated opposite the Pierce County Courthouse on South Tacoma Avenue and another opposite the Old Town Dock on Ruston Way.

Vaughan’s licenses are the first to be issued under the new ordinance.

Vaughn said his hot dogs will be made the way the French do it. “We don’t use a bun, but French bread, which is heated from the middle and which makes them quite tasty,” he said.
