Prince Charming rode his white steed across Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday, then knelt on bended knee and asked his true love for her hand in marriage.
Her stunned reply? “Yes. Oh my God. Yes.”
The prince, also known as Craig Cassella, a 27-year-old employee at AT&T;, donned a purple robe, a feathery purple hat and white tights for the big event. He also prepared by taking riding lessons for the past two months.
Cassella and Jennifer Perillie, 23, have been dating for more than a year.
The junior from Stamford, who majors in secondary education and English, had just left class when her prince rode up. At first, she had no idea what was happening.
But then he was on his knee, holding out a diamond ring in a black velvet box. She was shaking and crying as she accepted.
After his big proposal, Cassella took a deep breath and said, “I need a cigarette.”
