Sparks Flew Between Woman And Her Ex

From Staff Reports

A Spokane woman was arrested this week for trying to set her ex-husband on fire.

The victim, whom police didn’t identify, wasn’t injured in the Tuesday morning incident.

Debra R. Mason, 42, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree assault.

About 8 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to an emergency call at the home of the victim and his wife on East 42nd.

Also inside was Mason, who showed up unannounced at the couple’s home, police said.

After being allowed inside, Mason suddenly pulled a container of lighter fluid from her purse, police said. She is accused of squirting the fluid on the man, then tossing two lighted matches at him.

The fluid on the man failed to catch fire.
