Brooks Leading Houston Open

Compiled From Wire Services

Mark Brooks had a bogey for the first time in two days but still shot 68 for a one-stroke lead at 10-under 136 after two rounds of the $1.5 million Shell Houston Open on the Tournament Players Course at The Woodlands in Texas.

Ex-Pullman resident Kirk Triplett shot a 73 for 139.

Brian Barnes shot a 6-under-par 66 that gave the burly Scotsman a share of the first-round lead at the PaineWebber Seniors Invitational in Charlotte, N.C. He shared the lead with Graham Marsh.

Val Skinner’s second straight 67 was good enough for a one-stroke lead at Daytona Beach, Fla., after two rounds of the $1.2 million Sprint Titleholders Championship - the LPGA Tour’s richest event.

Tracy Hanson of Rathdrum, Idaho, shot a 68 and Robin Walton of Clarkston a 70. Both finished at 5-under 139 on the LPGA International Course.
