Boy Drowns While Going For Swim

Compiled From Wire Services

A 14-year-old boy drowned Saturday evening after going for a swim in Lake Washington.

Mark Deleon, 14, was 50 to 60 feet north of Seward Park when he began having trouble staying afloat and slipped beneath the surface, witnesses said.

A man in a boat swam to the teenager and pulled him from the water, but Fire Department medics were unable to revive him on shore and he was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center.
