Mayor To Accept Walk-In Visitors

Compiled From Wire Services

Willie Brown wants to be known as the mayor with the open door and plans to make himself available to the public on Saturdays. But visitors will have to talk fast, because they only get 10 minutes apiece.

“We’ll start at 8:30 in the morning, and you’ll be given an opportunity to dialogue with the mayor,” Brown said Friday at a breakfast with supporters. “Starting in June, we’ll open the mayor’s office on a first-come, first-served basis. … There’ll be coffee and you’ll take a number, just like at Starbucks.”

His aides cautioned that the hours and format were still being worked out.
