Dollar Traders Indecisive
The dollar rose against the German mark but fell against the Japanese yen Monday in a listless session as traders in London and Tokyo stayed home for national holidays.
The only news to affect trading was a report that Germany’s unemployment rate fell to 10.4 percent last month. But the government said the improvement was disappointing and that helped the dollar against the mark.
Its strength, however, came more from trades between the mark and yen than from transactions directly involving the dollar.
