Compiled From Wire Services

A plane carrying a group of miners crashed Friday morning in a rugged mountain area of northwestern Mexico, killing 16 people and injuring three others, authorities said.

The twin-turboprop De Haviland Twin Otter was flying from Durango, capital of Durango state, when it crashed while preparing to land at a remote airstrip, said Durango state spokesman Manuel Perez.
