Silverwood Open For Weekend Visitors

From Staff And Wire Reports

Silverwood Theme Park, located about 15 miles north of Coeur d’Alene on Highway 95, begins its season today.

The theme park will be open Sunday, but will close again until next weekend. Starting May 25, the park will be open every day.

The big attraction for Silverwood this year is The Grizzly wooden roller coaster, which will propel passengers up to 55 miles per hour. The park has tentatively targeted June 1 for the opening date of the coaster, said Dan Aylward, the park’s president and general manager.

Admission to the park is $18.99 plus tax for adults ages 8-64. Those age 3-7 and 65 and older pay $9.99 plus tax. Children 2 and under are free. Parking at the park costs $1, and there is a large RV park across the highway from Silverwood.

As it did last year, Silverwood will feature daily ice shows and an evening air show. A variety of smaller children’s rides have been added throughout the park this year, Aylward said.
