Do The Write Thing Teens Learn About Resolving Conflict By ‘Composing Peace’

Ever get into a fight with someone and have no idea how to get out of it without violence or yelling? The Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane has some ideas, and they’re vividly illustrated by this year’s winners of the PJALS “Compose Peace” essay contest.

More than 300 entries came in to the eighth annual writing contest, offering narrative examples of how people can resolve their differences. The winners, coincidentally, all came from Sharon Becker’s classroom at Shadle Park High School.

Our Generation is printing the first place winners from both team and individual categories. The team winner starts below; look for the individual winner on page G2.
