Sheriff Warns Of Phone Fraud
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department warned residents Saturday of a telephone fraud that has surfaced in the eastern part of the county.
The fraud involves callers identifying themselves as representatives of the sheriff’s department selling advertising in a law enforcement magazine.
For any telephone solicitor that sounds suspicious, the sheriff’s department advises that residents ask for a call-back number or business address. A legitimate business would welcome a call back or visit to their business.
Reports of suspected telephone fraud should be directed to local law enforcement or the Idaho attorney general’s office of Consumer Fraud in Boise.
